Nepse index sheds 7.75 points as trading and finance sub-indices record losses
Hydropower and development banks post gains, turnover crosses Rs8.7 billion.

The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index declined by 7.75 points on Monday, closing at 2,698.28—a drop of 0.28 percent.
The total daily turnover stood at Rs8.77 billion, with 21.2 million shares traded. A total of 112 companies advanced, 133 declined, and one remained unchanged.
Among the sub-indices, the trading index recorded the highest loss, falling by 70.44 points (1.52 percent). The finance index followed with a decline of 26.17 points (1.03 percent), while the banking index dropped 11.74 points (0.85 percent). In contrast, the hydropower sector gained 27.36 points (0.77 percent), and the development bank index rose by 24.66 points (0.43 percent).
The top five gainers of the day included Nepal Micro Insurance Company Limited (NMIC), which surged by Rs64.70 to close at Rs712.20, up 9.99 percent. Crest Micro Life Insurance Limited (CREST) rose by Rs53.50 to Rs588.90, also up 9.99 percent. Corporate Development Bank Limited (CORBL) increased by Rs247.05 to Rs2,746.50, up 9.88 percent.
Likewise, United Modi Hydropower Limited (UPCL) climbed Rs31.01 to Rs347.42, up 9.80 percent, and Nepal Hydro Developers Limited (NHDL) gained Rs72.86 to close at Rs875.86, up 9.07 percent.
On the other hand, the biggest losers were 12 percent Goodwill Finance Limited Debenture 2083 (GWFD83), which fell by Rs105.60 to Rs1,257.60, down 7.75 percent, and NMB Hybrid Fund L-2 (NMBHF2), which dropped by Rs0.77 to Rs9.23, down 7.70 percent.
Nepal SBI Bank (SBI) declined by Rs18.46 to Rs424.22, down 4.17 percent. Wean Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited (WNLB) slid by Rs119.90 to Rs2,865.69, down 4.02 percent, while Green Development Bank Limited (GRDBL) lost Rs57.36 to close at Rs1,392.33, down 3.96 percent.
