The government has appointed Chudamani Chapagain as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). The decision was made at the Cabinet meeting held on Monday.
Chapagain, who was selected from a pool of ten candidates, received his appointment letter on Tuesday. Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, revenue secretary at the Ministry of Finance, handed over the official letter to the new CEO.
Earlier, the ministry had formed a selection committee to choose the new CEO. The committee, headed by joint secretary Sebantak Pokharel, included Amrit Lamsal and Khomraj Kharel as members.
After reviewing the applications, the committee shortlisted Chapagain, Purna Prasad Acharya, Badri Prasad Pyakurel, and Hemant Basyal in the first round. From these, three names were recommended, and the Cabinet chose Chapagain for the role.
The position had been vacant since the tenure of the former CEO, Krishna Bahadur Karki, ended on February 7.
