Barahi Jungle Lodge has been announced as Nepal’s first hotel to receive certification under the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Hotel Sustainability Basics programme.
This certification recognises hotels that excel in sustainability by implementing essential criteria for responsible operations.
Barahi Jungle Lodge’s achievement highlights its excellence in three core areas: energy efficiency, planet-friendly operations, and community support.
The lodge has implemented various measures, including reducing energy consumption, eliminating single-use plastics, and actively supporting local communities.
This dedication sets a new benchmark for sustainable hospitality in Nepal. In addition to the WTTC certification, Barahi Jungle Lodge has also been awarded the TOFTigers Outstanding Certification, a testament to its commitment to conservation and responsible tourism.
The WTTC’s Hotel Sustainability Basics is a global standard designed to guide hotels in their sustainability journey, with 12 fundamental criteria covering environmental, social, and operational practices.
