Oppo is set to bring early Christmas cheer to customers in Nepal with the launch of their premium segment smartphone, the R17 Pro, on Saturday.
The company already has a strong grasp of the smartphone market with their budget and mid-range offerings in the form of the A and F series. With the upcoming launch of the R17 Pro, Oppo is looking to shake up the premium smartphone segment in Nepal.
With the company’s proclama-tion as the selfie expert and lead-er, Oppo is looking to cement the R17 Pro’s photography capabili-ties as one of the best in the market. And they have an ace up their sleeve, excellent night pho-tography.
They understand that taking great photos at night is a diffi-cult task for most smartphones and have specially designed both the hardware and software in the R17 Pro for night photography, reads a press release.
According to Oppo, the R17 Pro is equipped with a variable smart aperture of f1.5/f2.4 which can automatically adjust to the lighting conditions, making images sharper and clearer in both bright and low light situa-tions. This technology is similar to the one utilised by Samsung on their high-end flagships. Another hardware feature to improve photos taken by the R17 Pro is the inclusion of OIS (Optical image stabilisation). This allows for a longer expo-sure time to brighten night-time photography.
Furthermore, the R17 Pro uses a Sony IMX362 sensor for its main camera, which is a 12 MP unit with dual-pixel auto focus. It also comes with a 20 MP sec-ondary camera along with a TOF 3D stereo camera for a total of three cameras on the rear. Oppo has also equipped a 25 MP cam-era capable of taking HDR pho-tos on the front.
On the software front, the R17 Pro features Oppo’s unique image-enhancing technology—AI Ultra-clear Engine—to break all hardware limitations to max-imise the image quality to pro-duce amazing night photos. With the hardware and software both working in tandem, users can expect beautiful photos in any situation. Users will be able to view their photos on the gorgeous 6.4-inch AMOLED screen that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. Powering the R17 Pro is the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset with 128GB of internal storage which can be further expanded via microSD card (up to 256GB). It runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.
According to sources at Oppo, the R17 Pro is expect-ed to cost around Rs75,000.
While Oppo smartphones are usually focused on pho-tography, the R17 Pro also comes with the latest tech-nologies such as an in-dis-play fingerprint scanner, USB 3.1 Type-C connection and a massive 3,700mAh battery. The R17 Pro also supports fast battery charg-ing via Oppo’s Super VOOC Flash Charge which allows the device to gain 40 per-cent charge in just 10 min-utes of charging.
