Australian motorcycle brand, Hunter has finally arrived in Nepal and they are looking to stake their claim in the burgeoning motorcycle market. Hunter has accumulated nearly a decade worth of experience building different types of motorcycles such as sports bikes, cruisers and cafe racers. The company has appointed Rai Motors as the authorised dealer in Nepal.

Hunter was first launched in Nepal during the Nada Auto Show 2017, which ended on September 3. Hunter motorbikes are manufactured in Taiwan. 

Three models of motorbikes have already been brought to Nepal. They are: Cafe Racer 350, Daytona 350 and Sniper TT350X. These bikes are categorised in the 350cc segment. 

They are all equipped with an EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) system. All three models of bikes are powered by the same 320cc, parallel twin cylinder engine that is water cooled. 

The company claims that all three models will give a mileage of up to 25km per litre of petrol. All three bikes are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Daytona 350 churns out a maximum power of 23hp at 8000 rpm while both the Cafe Racer 350 and Sniper TT350X pumps out 25hp.

The fledgling company is looking to attract customers who are looking for the holy trinity on a bike—sound, appearance and features. “These bikes are for those who prefer premium motorbikes at relatively affordable prices,” says Hari Shrestha, service manager of Hunter motorbike showroom in Baluwatar, Kathmandu. “People aged 20 to 45 prefer these kinds of motorbikes,” he added. The company provides 1 year warranty along with free servicing for 2 years on all models. The maintenance of these bikes is also not that high, according to Shrestha. And customers will not have to travel far to get their Hunter motorcycles serviced as the service centre is located behind the showroom itself in Baluwatar, Kathmandu. Spare parts will also be available at the service centre. Currently, all three models—Cafe Racer 350, Daytona 350 and Sniper TT350X—are priced at an introductory price of Rs600,000 each.

And the company is seeing strong demand for these bikes. About 50 units have already been booked during the Nada Auto Show, according to Shrestha. Hunter will launch two more models, the Spyder 350 and Cruiser 350, in the Nepali market soon. 

Over the years, many international motorbike brands such as brands like KTM, Benelli, CF Moto, Ace british, UM, Cross-X have entered Nepal to cash in on growing demand for high-performance motorbikes.
