Although telecom service providers have claimed that majority of the glitches in their system have been fixed, people living in more than half a dozen districts across the Koshi River are still experiencing poor network.
Sovan Adhikari, joint spokesperson of state-owned Nepal Telecom (NT) said that over 100 base transceiver station (BTS) towers of the NT in the eastern region have gone offline due to power cuts in region.
“We have deployed our technicians with mobile generators to charge the BTS tower,” said Adhikari. “Majority of the BTS tower will go online later tonight and connectivity will be restored within a couple of days.”
The flood also damaged fixed line service of eastern cities like Biratnagar, Rajbiraj and Birtamod among others. However, the service should be resumed by tomorrow, according to Adhikari.
Ncell claimed that 90 percent of their BTS towers are working under full capacity. “In a few places, the BTS towers have gone offline due to power cuts.
But we will restore them by operating diesel generators,” said Pranay Acharya, director of Ncell Corporate Services. (PR)
