Monitoring team seizes underweight gas cylinders

The team also took action against a number of shops for their failure to abide by the government’s regulation.
According to the Supply Ministry, the team seized seven underweight gas cylinders from Metro Gas, while Sagarmatha Gas, which failed to produce operating licence, was found selling substandard cylinders.
The seized cylinders have been sent to the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology for further action.
The market inspection team also sealed three shops, including Star Enterprises at Shantinagar, Hamro Khaja Ghar at Bode and Manil Food Industries at Katunju.
Star Enterprises, which has been registered with low-paid-up capital, was found conducting large transactions. Hamro Khaja Ghar was found selling home-made alcohol, while Manil Food failed to maintain hygiene posing risk to consumers’ health.
The government team also took action against a number of meat shops. Ikalu Meat Centre at Baneshwor was found selling packed food items without proper labelling.
The team also destroyed 16kg, and 47kf of fish at New Fish House and Taja Machha Pasal, respectively, at Kalimati.
The team has recommended the police take action against Sanepa-based Sunny Cold Store, besides destroying 76kg of fish from the shop. The outlet has been barred from doing business until it renews its licence and maintains good hygiene practices.
Bimala Sweet and Chat House at Bagbazaar, and Kwality Water and Beverage and Eco-polypack Industries at Patan Industrial Estate were also grilled by the team.
The team also took action against 29 public vehicles for overcharging travellers.
