Nepal reports 476 cases as rapid antigen tests added to daily infection tallies

Nepal on Tuesday reported 299 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 976,105.
Similarly, 177 people tested positive in a total of 2,820 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Tuesday, 5,391,603 PCR and 1,044,733 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,604 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
Three people died from Covid-19-related infections in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The countrywide death toll has reached 11,928 since the pandemic began.
According to the ministry, 953,430 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 831 of them in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases stands at 10,747.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 126 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 101 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 10 in Lalitpur and 15 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 39 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 20 in Madhesh Pradesh, 149 in Bagmati, 46 in Gandaki, 24 in Lumbini, nine in Karnali and 10 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, five districts are home to more than 500 active cases each, other eight districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Tuesday, 115 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 19—two in Province 1, 15 in Bagmati and one each in Gandaki and Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Monday reported 247 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and four deaths. Similarly, 229 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and four deaths were reported on Sunday and 198 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and four deaths were reported on Saturday.
