Nepal reports 262 cases as rapid antigen tests added to daily infection tallies

Nepal on Sunday reported 229 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 975,559.
Similarly, 33 people tested positive in a total of 3,243 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Sunday, 5,379,774 PCR and 1,038,998 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,572 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
Four people died from Covid-19-related infections in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The countrywide death toll has reached 11,921 since the pandemic began.
According to the ministry, 951,394 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,338 of them in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases stands at 12,244.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 93 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 80 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 12 in Lalitpur and one in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 28 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 19 in Madhesh Pradesh, 127 in Bagmati, 24 in Gandaki, 14 in Lumbini, six in Karnali and nine in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, five districts are home to more than 500 active cases each, other eight districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Sunday, 136 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 14—two in Province 1 and 12 in Bagmati—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday reported 198 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and four deaths. Similarly, 275 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and two deaths were reported on Friday and 364 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and six deaths were recorded on Thursday.
