Nepal reports 691 new Covid-19 cases, 14 deaths

Nepal on Tuesday reported 691 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 803,552.

Similarly, 101 people tested positive in a total of 2,559 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

As of Tuesday, 4,303,231 PCR and 622,483 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 7,060 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 14 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.

The countrywide death toll has now reached 11,257. The number of active cases stands at 14,554.

According to the ministry, 777,741 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 910 of them in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 287 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 193 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 51 in Lalitpur and 43 in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, 148 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 16 in Province 2, 341 in Bagmati, 73 in Gandaki, 77 in Lumbini, 18 in Karnali and 18 in Sudurpaschim.

According to the data released by the ministry, eight districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 17 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.

On Tuesday, 306 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 102-34 in Province 1, 58 in Bagmati, two in Gandaki, four in Lumbini, two each in Karnali in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Monday 663 new coronavirus cases and 12 deaths. Similarly, 565 new coronavirus cases and 10 deaths were recorded on Sunday and 636 new coronavirus cases and 11 deaths were reported on Saturday.
