Nepal on Tuesday reported 2,202 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 670,953.

Similarly, 906 people tested positive in a total of 3,831 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

As of Tuesday, 3,486,354 PCR and 270,961 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 8,836 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 25 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.

The countrywide death toll has now reached 9,607. The number of active cases stands at 26,491.

According to the ministry, 634,927 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,595 of them in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 719 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 531 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 147 in Lalitpur and 41 in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, 644 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 56 in Province 2, 1039 in Bagmati, 265 in Gandaki, 107 in Lumbini, 30 in Karnali and 61 in Sudurpaschim.

According to the data released by the ministry, nine districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 22 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.

On Tuesday, 592 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 172—46in Province 1, 103 in Bagmati, 12 in Gandaki, nine in Lumbini, one in Karnali and three in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Monday reported 1,642 new coronavirus cases and 32 new deaths. Similarly, 1,223 new coronavirus cases and 23 new deaths were recorded on Sunday and 1,310 new coronavirus cases and 21 new deaths were reported on Saturday.
