Leaders of society are asked not to organise public functions and not to attend them. Hospitals will fill up soon if the current pace of spread of infections continues, the ministry says.Post Report
As the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise unabated in Nepal and in view of the devastation caused to the health care systems in neighbouring countries, the Health Ministry has requested everyone to adhere to health protocols and safety measures that the government has announced.
“If the chain of transmission cannot be halted and infections spread at the same pace as at present, there will soon be no place for patients in hospitals,” said the ministry in a press release on Sunday.
The current infections are extremely risky for all classes and age groups and so far medical science has not been able to develop any medicine or remedy that can cure the disease completely, the release said.
The Health Ministry also requests leaders of society to set an example for others by following safety measures and not to organise any public functions and events in public places and participate in them.
“Even though there have been heart-rending situations in some places of the country we have not adhered to measures that can prevent infections,” the statement said.
Nepal has been witnessing a steady rise in the number of infections over the past few weeks and at present the number of active cases stands at 19,382 with 3,164 deaths, according to data of Sunday.
