Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,816 with eight more deaths; national tally reaches 257,200 with 608 new infections

Nepal on Friday reported eight more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,816. The country also recorded 608 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 257,200 with 7,092 active cases.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 248,292 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 892 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 279 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 212 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 47 in Lalitpur and 20 in Bhaktapur.
As of Friday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 119,628. While Kathmandu has reported 459 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 144 and 98 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 899 individuals from Bagmati Province, 227 from Lumbini Province, 215 from Province 1, 211 from Province 2, 183 from Gandaki Province, 56 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 25 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.

As of Friday, 1,900,392 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 4,142 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 44 new infections were reported in Province 1, eight in Province 2, and 334 in Bagmati Province.

Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 34, 82, 22 and 84 cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Mugu and Rukum (West) do not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 249 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 46 others—28 in Bagmati Province, seven in Gandaki, four in Province 1, three in Province 2, two in Lumbini, and one each in Karnali and Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.

Nepal on Thursday reported five Covid-19-related deaths and 613 new infections. Similarly, five deaths and 743 new infections were recorded in the country on Wednesday and three deaths and 722 new cases on Tuesday.
