Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,798 with three more deaths; national tally reaches 255,236 with 722 new infections

Nepal on Tuesday reported three more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,798. The country also recorded 722 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 255,236 with 7,729 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 245,709 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 966 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 365 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 300 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 42 in Lalitpur and 23 in Bhaktapur.
As of Tuesday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 118,787. While Kathmandu has reported 454 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 142 and 97 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 891 individuals from Bagmati Province, 226 from Lumbini Province, 214 from Province 1, 210 from Province 2, 178 from Gandaki Province, 54 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 25 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Tuesday, 1,884,181 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 7,000 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 84 new infections were reported in Province 1, five in Province 2, and 457 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 59, 70, 26 and 21 cases respectively.
Two districts—Kathmandu and Lalitpur—have more than 500 active cases. Manang and Mugu do not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 260 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 48 others—26 in Bagmati Province, 11 in Gandaki, four in Province 2, three in Province 1 and two each in Lumbini and Karnali—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Monday reported seven Covid-19-related deaths and 742 new cases. Eleven Covid-19-related deaths and 588 new cases were recorded on Sunday. The country on Saturday had reported 12 more Covid-19-related fatalities and 710 new cases.
