Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,803 with five more deaths; national tally reaches 255,979 with 743 new infections

Nepal on Wednesday reported five more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,803. The country also recorded 743 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 255,979 with 7,512 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 246,661 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 952 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 318 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 250 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 34 in Lalitpur and 34 in Bhaktapur.
As of Wednesday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 119,105. While Kathmandu has reported 456 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 143 and 98 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 895 individuals from Bagmati Province, 226 from Lumbini Province, 214 from Province 1, 210 from Province 2, 179 from Gandaki Province, 54 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 25 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Wednesday, 1,890,740 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 6,559 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 29 new infections were reported in Province 1, 11 in Province 2, and 404 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 121, 85, five and 88 cases respectively.
Two districts—Kathmandu and Lalitpur—have more than 500 active cases. Manang and Mugu do not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 248 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 50 others—29 in Bagmati Province, 11 in Gandaki, four in Province 2, one in Province 1, three in Lumbini and two in Karnali—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Tuesday reported three Covid-19-related deaths and 722 new cases. Seven Covid-19-related deaths and 742 new cases were recorded on Monday. The country on Sunday had reported 11 Covid-19-related fatalities and 588 new cases.
