Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,567 with 16 more deaths; national tally reaches 238,861 with 1,272 new infections

Nepal on Friday reported 16 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,567. The country also recorded 1,272 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 238,861 with 15,447 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 221,847 infected people have recovered from the disease so far, with 1,575 of them in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 606 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 440 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 125 in Lalitpur and 41 in Bhaktapur.
As of Friday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 111,546. While Kathmandu has reported 395 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 120 and 95 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 795 individuals from Bagmati Province, 210 from Lumbini Province, 197 from Province 2, 195 from Province 1, 107 from Gandaki Province, 40 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 23 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Friday, 1,771,950 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 8,031 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 147 new infections were reported in Province 1, 36 in Province 2, and 693 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 143, 155, two and 96 cases respectively.
Six districts—Jhapa, Morang, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kaski—have more than 500 active cases. Manang and Dolpa districts do not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 328 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 54 others— 31 in Bagmati Province, nine in Gandaki, eight in Province 1, three in Lumbini Province, two in Sudurpaschim Province, and one in Province 2—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday had reported 13 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,343 new infections. Similarly, nine deaths and 1,490 new infections were recorded in the country on Wednesday and 21 deaths and 1,304 new infections on Tuesday.
