Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,551 with 13 more deaths; national tally reaches 237,589 with 1,343 new infections

Nepal on Thursday reported 13 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,551. The country also recorded 1,343 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 237,589 with 15,766 active cases.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 220,272 infected people have recovered from the disease so far, with 2,111 of them in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 561 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 455 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 80 in Lalitpur and 26 in Bhaktapur.

As of Thursday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 110,940. While Kathmandu has reported 393 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 117 and 94 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 787 individuals from Bagmati Province, 206 from Lumbini Province, 196 from Province 2, 195 from Province 1, 105 from Gandaki Province, 39 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 23 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Thursday, 1,763,919 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 9,289 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 282 new infections were reported in Province 1, 51 in Province 2, and 651 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 147, 154, 14 and 44 cases respectively.
Six districts—Jhapa, Morang, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kaski—have more than 500 active cases. Manang and Dolpa districts do not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 388 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 65 others—41 in Bagmati Province, nine each in Gandaki and Province 1, three in Lumbini Province, two in Sudurpaschim Province, and one in Province 2—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Wednesday had reported nine Covid-19-related deaths and 1,490 new infections. Similarly, 21 deaths and 1,304 new infections were recorded in the country on Tuesday and 29 deaths and 1,474 new infections on Monday.
