Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 1,508 with 29 more deaths; national tally reaches 233,452 with 1,474 new infections

Nepal on Monday reported 25 more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,508. The country also recorded 1,474 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 233,452 with 17,423 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,931 infected people have recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 809 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 615 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 125 in Lalitpur and 69 in Bhaktapur.
As of Monday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 109,126. While Kathmandu has reported 375 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 112 and 91 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 756 individuals from Bagmati Province, 201 from Lumbini Province, 196 from Province 2, 191 from Province 1, 103 from Gandaki Province, 38 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 23 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Monday, 1,737,747 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 9,911 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 236 new infections were reported in Province 1, 44 in Province 2, and 932 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 87, 120, 42 and 13 cases respectively.
Six districts—Jhapa, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kaski and Rupandehi—have more than 500 active cases. Manang and Dolpa districts do not have any active case, according to the ministry.
While 375 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 58 others—35 in Bagmati Province, 11 in Gandaki, six in Province 1, three in Lumbini Province, two in Sudurpaschim Province and one in Province 2—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Sunday had reported 25 deaths and 1,255 new infections. The country on Saturday had reported 19 more Covid-19-related fatalities and 1,380 new cases. On Friday, the country had reported 23 more Covid-19-related fatalities and 1,703 new cases compared to 23 Covid-19-related deaths and 1,614 new infections on Thursday and 28 deaths and 1,948 new infections on Wednesday.
