Nepali national football team coach Abdulla Almutairi had not submitted his resignation to All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) until Monday, although he had on Sunday announced on social media that he would step down as Nepal coach.

The Kuwaiti on Sunday wrote on Facebook that he was going to resign as coach because ANFA senior vice-president Pankaj Nembang has been constantly giving him trouble for the last three weeks. Though he visited ANFA headquarters at Satdobato on Sunday and Monday, he did not submit a resignation letter. On Monday, Almutairi held 'discussion' on a wide range of issues with ANFA officials but the two sides have yet to patch up, according to ANFA spokesperson Kiran Rai.

"Today, general secretary Indraman Tuladhar, team manager Madhu Sudhan Upadhyaya and I myself held a meeting with the coach," said ANFA spokesperson Kiran Rai.

He, however, did not elaborate on their meeting. "We did not reach any conclusion and the discussion will continue tomorrow (Tuesday) as well," said Rai adding that the coach would hold a meeting with ANFA President Karma Tsering Sherpa on Tuesday.

The Kuwaiti's announcement on Monday caused an outcry on social media with many fans urging the coach to stay and vented their ire against Nembang, the senior vice-president, who is at loggerheads with president Sherpa.

Nembang however refuted the allegations and said that it was a plot against him. He even claimed that he had never met the Kuwaiti in person and said that he was being used against him. He demanded an inquiry into the allegations by the coach.
