Hoefer’s lecture will pick up the age-old artistic exchange between Nepal, Tibet and China and present it as an example of ‘proto-globalisation,’ before using this premise to understand the contemporary global art scene.
Further, the lecture will explore the modernist movement in Tibetan art during the 1920s with a close look at one of its figureheads, Gendun Choephel. It will also shed light on the current situation of art in Tibet as well as in the rest of the world.
The event will take place on January 16 at 2 pm
