Artisan Fest is a two-day annual event that started in 2021. It is focused on sustainability, natural fibres, and promoting local craftsmanship. This year, 30 local vendors participated in the fest and kept their stalls.
The event was inaugurated by Manjali Shakya Bajracharya, deputy mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, and Claudius Preville, team leader and investment facility director of the EU-Nepal Trade and Investment Programme. Astitwa Nepal's jewellery-making workshop and Patan Pottery's pottery workshop were scheduled for both days. However, due to unexpected heavy rainfall, the workshops were postponed to Saturday, though some activities of the pottery workshop proceeded as planned.
A panel discussion on ‘Building the Practice of Sustainable Fashion in Nepal’ was conducted and moderated by Srichchha Pradhan, Miss Nepal World 2023. The panellists were Keyur Pradhan, ESG & Impact Officer Sustainability Solutions; Priya Sigdel, co-founder/president of Hatti Hatti Nepal; Samanata Thapa, co-founder/head of Programs Startup Discovery Asia and Nistha Kayastha; founder of Didibahini Creations. A fusion-musical event was also organised.
According to Bini Bajracharya, co-founder of Abir, the second day of the fest will feature a musical program, a jewellery-making workshop, a pottery workshop, and local vendor stalls. She said, "We have requested the Patan Museum to allow us to extend the event for an additional day, but nothing has been confirmed yet. The heavy rainfall made it challenging to manage the event."
