The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that most parts of the country, except for the high mountainous and Himalayan regions, are likely to experience a rise in temperature due to the partial influence of local winds.
Temperatures in the Kathmandu Valley have been steadily increasing in recent days, with the maximum temperature expected to hover between 31 and 33 degrees Celsius today.
The department said that extreme heat is likely in many Tarai areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, with heatwave conditions expected particularly in the Tarai region of Lumbini Province.
Weather conditions in the hilly areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces will remain partly to generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will see mainly fair weather. Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces. Light rain and snowfall are also expected at a few locations in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
Similar weather is expected tonight, with extreme heat and potential heatwave conditions persisting in the Tarai areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Light rain and snowfall may continue in the higher elevations of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces.
