Death toll from Shankharapur bus accident reaches five
One more victim dies during treatment on Thursday, police say.Post Report
The death toll from a bus accident at Jaharsinghpauwa in ward 3 of Shankharapur Municipality, Kathmandu.
Four people died on Wednesday evening, while another victim succumbed to injuries on Thursday, taking the death toll to five, said Superintendent of Police Pawan Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range.
The deceased are Kamana Sharma, 49, of Kohalpur Municipality-5, Banke, currently living in Budhanilkantha; Indira Limbu, 51, of Pathibhara Yangwarak Rural Municipality-5, Taplejung, currently living in Budhanilkantha; Shanti Gupta, 55, of Siraha, currently living in Pepsicola; Devendra Limbu, around 65, of Phidim, Panchthar, currently living in Gothatar; and Arjun Lamichhane, 60, of Jorpati, Kathmandu.
The accident involved a Mahangar Yatayat bus bearing registration number Ba 4 Kha 8788, which crashed while returning from a picnic organised by Nature House and Herb International Company.
Of the 28 injured, 23 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Kathmandu, while five have been discharged after treatment.
