Fifty days after being arrested on the charge of multiple robberies (two in Bhaktapur and one in Butwal), a Pakistani couple has been once again arrested under similar charges by the Metropolitan Crime Division.

On Wednesday, the division arrested Mohsin Khan, 32, and Puja Mohsin Khan, 31, from their hotel room in Bhaktapur, where they were hiding after robbing a money exchange in the Capital.

According to the police, the couple had robbed Devis Metro Money Exchange in the Capital on Wednesday at around 5:30 pm.

The couple robbed 900 US Dollar, 3,000 Saudi Riyal and 1,400 Chinese RMB from the money exchange.

“The couple went to the money exchange saying they needed to exchange 500 Saudi Riyal to US Dollars,” Senior Superintendent of Police Sahakul Bahadur Thapa, chief of the division, told the Post. “The couple later asked if they could have a look at other currencies, and when they were shown other currencies, they snatched it and fled.”

After receiving the information of the robbery, police intensified the search for the couple, located them, and arrested them the same night of the robbery from their hotel room in Bhaktapur.

The couple had previously used a similar technique of robbery in three different shops following which they were arrested on May 14.

On May 12, the husband and wife had stolen Rs 30,000 from RK Electric and Electronic Centre at Suryabinayak Municipality-5 in Bhaktapur. The same day, the couple also robbed Rs 70,000 from a shop dealing with kitchenware at Lokanthali, in Bhaktapur.

Similarly, a few days before robbing the shops in Bhaktapur, the couple had stolen Rs 150,000 from Rising Sports Gallery in Butwal, Rupandehi.

“In every robbery, the couple used the same technique: they would ask if they could have a look at other currencies and snatched them as soon as they had the chance. After snatching the money, they used to flee in a rented car,” Thapa told the Post.

After the arrest on May 14, the couple was released later on a bail of Rs 50,000 each. However, after being released, the couple resumed the activities again.

“Robbing people by cheating on them is how the couple earned their livelihood,” said Thapa. “The couple has been sent to the Jana Sewa police station for further legal procedures.”
