Police have launched an investigation after a video showing a car driver assaulting a pedestrian in Kathmandu went viral on social media.
The footage shows the driver punching the pedestrian on the street, reportedly after an argument. The incident drew widespread concern and criticism online, prompting police to step in.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa, chief of the Kathmandu District Police Range, said an investigation has begun. “Concerns have been raised from various quarters. Police have started looking into what exactly happened,” he said.
A Sajha Yatayat bus can be seen near the scene in the video. Authorities are analysing available footage and technical details to identify the individuals involved. Police said efforts are underway to verify the time, location and circumstances leading to the incident.
