Durga Prasain remanded to four-day custody
Police say he is under investigation for spreading rumours about elections and disturbing public order.Post Report
Police have obtained permission to keep medical entrepreneur Durga Prasain in custody for at least four days for investigation.
The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, granted permission to detain him on charges of spreading rumours about elections and committing an offence against public peace and security.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ramesh Thapa, chief of Kathmandu police, said police have been authorised to proceed with further investigation while keeping Prasain in custody.
Police arrested Prasain on Monday evening in Thimi and brought him to the District Police Range, Kathmandu.
This is not the first time Prasain has been arrested.
Earlier, he was also arrested on charges of spreading misinformation. He was later released on bail.
Prasain leads the “Nation, nationality, religion, culture and citizens” grand campaign. He was previously detained following allegations that he disseminated misleading information undermining the credibility of the Election Commission.
