Advance booking of bus tickets for the upcoming Dashain festival is set to open on Tuesday. 

Transport operators at a meeting of the stakeholders reached a decision to this effect on Saturday. Transport Minister Bir Bahadur Balayar was also present in the meet. 

Though the government had called for opening advance ticket bookings for the 10-day festival, which begins by observing Ghatas-thapana on September 21, from September 7, it had been delayed after transporters demanded revision in fares.

An agreement was reached on Saturday to open ticket booking after the authorities committed to revising the fares in a scientific way. Hundreds of thousands of people leave the Capital for their home districts for the festival. (PR)
