A team from the Department of Supply Management and Protection of Consumers Interest on Wednesday sealed two Durbarmarg-based watch stores for fleecing customers.
The team sealed Watch & See and Sulux Centre after they were found charging exorbitant prices for the items kept for sale.
According to a member of the Consumer Rights Investigation Forum and a member of the monitoring team, Darshan Acharya, the Watch & See was found charging Rs 13,000 for a watch costing Rs 45,00, while Sulux Centre was found charging Rs 205,000 for a watch costing Rs 77,000.
A brief scuffle broke out between police and traders when the latter tried to obstruct the monitoring team from sealing the stores. Traders staged a demonstration when the monitoring team tried to seal the stores.
Dhundiraj Pokharael is the coordinator of the monitoring team.
Earlier on September 4, the monitoring team sealed Durbarmarg-based outlets of Nike, Puma, Bentley and Store One brands for allegedly charging exorbitant price in their products.
The team was led by Minister for Supplies Shiva Kumar Mandal during the raid then.
