Leaders of the major coalition partner CPN (Maoist Centre) have questioned the performance of the party’s ministers, charging them with using their positions to extract personal benefits rather than working to improve the party’s image.

During the ongoing extended secretariat meeting of the party that will conclude on Saturday, a majority of leaders who have spoken so far raised the issue of poor performance of the Maoist ministers except for a few including Janardan Sharma.

They also questioned the leadership for focusing more on Rukum and Rolpa districts while ignoring other regions while allocating resources.

District leaders of the party also criticised the ministers for appointing their kin to different positions instead of those supporting the party, flouting the recommendations of the party committees.

Many leaders expressed their anger that the ministers had no time to meet the cadres and mostly acted on their own, without consulting with party comrades.

Maoist leader Pushpa Bikram Malla criticised the party leadership for “treating junior leaders as their workers”, thus creating the categories of “haves” and “have nots”.

Leaders including Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Ajay Shankar Nayak, Rekha Sharma, Haribol Gajurel, Gauri Shankar Chaudhari, DR Poudel, Hitraj Pande, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, Agni Sapkota and Ram Karki have become ministers with different prime ministers.

The extended secretariat meeting will conclude after endorsing the action plan to be presented by Chairman Dahal on Saturday.
