The government has appointed seven experts to the National Population Council.
The first meeting of the National Population Council chaired by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal in Singha Durbar on Tuesday decided to appoint Yogendra Bahadur Gurung, Ramsharan Pathak, Roshana Karki, Ganesh Bahadur Karki, Mahendra Prasad Sharma, Padamraj Bhatta and Punam Lal Karna as expert members for the systematisation of population statistics.
The meeting also agreed to keep the records of data relating to population as required in the federal set-up and archive them in digital format, according to PM Dahal’s personal secretary Ramesh Malla.
During the meeting, PM Dahal said that management and control of population is an important factor for a managed and modern lifestyle.
Minister for Population and Environment Jayadev Joshi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara were also present in the meeting.
