Rs3.5b Jica aid for bridge, hospitals, water project
The government of Japan has agreed to provide grant assistance of Rs3.5 billion (4 billion Japanese Yen) to government of Nepal for “The Project on Rehabilitation and Recovery from Nepal Earthquake”.

According to a press release issued by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (Jica), the grant assistance will be used for the reconstruction of Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital, Bir Hospital, rehabilitation of water transmission system in Chautara and bridge construction along the Barhakilo-Barpak road, which were damaged by the April 25 earthquake.
Agreements of the projects were signed and exchanged between Baikuntha Aryal, joint-secretary, International Economic Cooperation Coordination Division (IECCD) of the Ministry of Finance on behalf of government of Nepal and Tsutomu Shimizu, Chief Representative of Jica Nepal on Wednesday.
“Jica Nepal believes that reconstruction of Bir Hospital would support to provide quality health services to the general public and reconstruction of Paropakar Maternity Hospital would support in quality reproductive health services to women and essential care for women and newborns,” read a statement issued by Jica.
The agreement was done in response to the exchange of notes of grant assistance between the governments of Nepal and Japan on December 21 last year.
