Various political parties on Sunday called for an extensive political conference involving all the political parties to promulgate a new constitution.

The leaders of six different political parties affiliated with the Federal Democratic National Alliance issued a joint statement underscoring the importance of holding a political conference with participation of parties with representation in the Constituent Assembly and those that had boycotted the CA elections.

In reference to the death of over two dozen people in course of the agitation across the country to protest the provisions of the draft constitution, the leaders warned that delivery of the constitution in the current scenario would drag the country towards an indefinite conflict.

The parties also demanded the government to issue the constitution with national consensus for a permanent resolution to the ongoing problem.

The statement is signed by Nepal Communist Party Chair Rishiram Kattel, Lok Dal Chairman Kaushal Kumar Singh, Nepal Communist Party (United Marxist) General Secretary Prakash Adhikari, Bahujan Samaj Party Chairman Ganga Mahara, Loktantrik Janata Party Nepal Chairman Bimal Thakur and Loktantrik Party Nepal Chairman Jeevan Shah.
