Newly promoted DIGs, SSPs conferred insignia
The government on Sunday conferred insignia to the six Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) and 23 Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) who were recently promoted.The Ministry of Home Affairs had on January 6 and January 7 published the list of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) promoted to DIG and Superintendent of Police (SP) to SSP respectively. They were promoted upon the recommendation of promotion committee and the subsequent recommendation of a committee for conducting hearing on the names.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Upendra Kanta Aryal conferred insignia to the newly promoted police officers amidst a function held at the Nepal Police Headquarters in Naxal.
Rana Bahadur Chand, Hemanta Bahadur Pal, Govinda Prasad Niroula, Romendra Singh Deuja and Bijaya Kumar Bhatta are the ones who have been promoted to DIG. Similarly, Krishna Prasad Gautam, Bikram Thapa, Bhupal Kumar Bhandari, Rabindra Prasad Sharma, Prem Chand, Shyam Khadka, Dipak Kumar Thapa, Gupta Bahadur Shrestha, Bishnu Hari Gautam, Suresh Bikram Shah, Mahesh Bikram Shah, Thule Rai, Dinesh Amatya, Kedar Rijal, Narayan Singh Khadka, Kamal Bahadur GT, Sher Bahadur Basnet, Dan Singh Bohara, Pitamber Adhikari, Sushil Kumar Bhandari, Ram Kumar Shrestha, Suraj KC and Mahendra Kumar Pokhrel were promoted to SSP.
As per the existing Police Regulations, police officials not satisfied with the list of candidates for promotion can register their complaints at the review panel within one week after the recommendation is made.
A recent amendment to the Nepal Police Regulations states that the review panel has to write to the promotion committee before including or excluding any proposed names. Furthermore, another clause states that if the complaint lodged by the officers is proven wrong, their two marks will be deducted in the upcoming promotion and three marks if they lodge the complaint twice.
