A patient died after an ambulance with an Indian number plate met with an accident on the East-West Highway on Tuesday.
Bardiya local Anjali Pariyar was killed after the ambulance she was aboard lost control and crashed in Balchaur of Lamki Chuha Municipality, police said.
The 18-year-old was returning home after undergoing treatment in Haldwani, a city in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
Five others who were also in the vehicle escaped unharmed.
Police have taken the ambulance driver into custody for further investigation.
