Grand Master Raju Chhetri successfully conducted a Black Belt Dan Promotion and Referee Training Seminar in Bangladesh from December 21 to 23 under the banner of the Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation.
Chhetri, who is also a vice chair at Kukkiwon’s International Committee, was specially nominated by World Taekwondo (Kukkiwon) to oversee the Dan Test and seminar in Bangladesh.
The event was organised under the leadership of Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation’s (BTF) Ad-Hoc Committee President Major General Md Habib Ullah, Vice President Md Hasanuzzaman Khan, General Secretary Lt Col Mohammad Ershadul Hoque, National Coach Kamruzzaman Chanchal, and board member Arif Rabbani.
After the conclusion of the programme, Nepali Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari and Bangladesh Olympic Association’s Director General A B M Shefaul Kabir handed the certificates over to the participants on Tuesday.
Speaking at the programme, Ambassador Bhandari acknowledged the contributions of Chhetri, a Nepali-origin taekwondo master and an honorary citizen of the Republic of Korea, to the combat sport.
“Sports—particularly taekwondo—serve as a powerful bridge connecting the youth of Nepal and Bangladesh, fostering discipline, mutual respect, and international friendship,” Bhandari added.
Bhandari also reaffirmed Nepal’s strong commitment to supporting the overall development of taekwondo in Bangladesh, including cooperation in advanced training, technical exchange, referee development, and future collaborative initiatives at the regional and international levels.
Bhandari had also called Chhetri alongside BTF officials for a courtesy meeting at the Embassy of Nepal in Dhaka on Wednesday. He had again assured full cooperation from Nepal in expanding taekwondo activities across all 64 districts of Bangladesh.
