Parki, Pachhai win 10km road race
Both of the winners set new course records in the men’s and women’s sections.

Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club athlete Gopi Chandra Parki and Nepal Police Club's Rajpura Pachhai clinched the men's and women's title of the Bir Ganesh Man 10km Road Race in Kathmandu on Saturday.
Parki clocked 31 minutes 11.4 seconds to better his race course record of 31:44.49 for top finish. Tribhuvan Army Club runner Deepak Adhikari finished as runner-up with a timing of 31:15.2 and his clubmate Rajan Rokaya finished third clocking 31:20.4.
In the women's category, Pachhai finished the distance in 37:10.5 to set a new course record eclipsing Santoshi Shrestha's previous record of 37:53.45. APF athlete Pushpa Bhandari secured second place finish clocking 38: 04.3 while Bindra Dhanke Shrestha of the same team came third with a timing of 40:28.95.
The top three finishers of both the categories collected a purse of Rs60,000, Rs30,000 and Rs115,000, respectively. Parki and Pachhai were rewarded with an additional Rs10,000 each for new course records.
Army's Mukesh Bahadur Pal secured gold in men's 5km race clocking 14:33.88. Sanotsh Bikram Bista of APF finished as runner-up with a timing of 14:59.86 and Subash Karki of Army secured third place honours at 15:14.02.
The women's 5km race saw Army athletes securing top three positions. Fulmati Rana secured top finish with a timing of 17:42.31 while Nirmala KC came second clocking 18:15.34 and Purna Laxmi Neupane third at 18:23.94.
The top three finishers of both men's and women's sections were rewarded with a purse of Rs15,000, Rs10,000 and Rs7,000, respectively.
Nepali Congress leader Prakash Man Singh and Srijana Singh, the mayoral candidate of Kathmandu Metropolitan City for upcoming local level election, among others, handed over the prizes. The event was organised by the sports committee of Bir Ganesh Man Singh Foundation.
