Four Nepali judokas have been eliminated in the opening round of the 20th Asian Games after losing their first bouts at the Aichi International Arena.

Nisha Shrestha lost to Hong Kong’s Wong Ka Lee in the women’s under-48kg category, with Wong winning by ippon.

Nisha’s elder sister, Devaki Maya Shrestha, was defeated by Vietnam’s Lam Thi Ngan Ha in the under-52kg category. Ha won the bout 1–0 on yuko.

Brothers Vishesh BK and Vikas BK also failed to advance to the second round. Vishesh lost to Hong Kong’s Wong Ka Ki in the under-66kg category after an 11–1 score, with the bout decided by waza-ari.

Vikas was beaten in the under-60kg category by Uzbekistan’s Samariddin Kuchkarov, who scored an ippon just 48 seconds into the bout.

Six Nepali judokas are competing in judo at the Games. Punam Shrestha and Sujan Gurung will compete on Thursday.
