Football fans in Nepal can watch Lionel Messi play his final match for Argentina live on Kantipur Max, which has secured exclusive rights in Nepal to Argentina’s two October friendlies.

Argentina vs Benin, billed as Messi’s farewell match, will be broadcast live at 4:45am Nepal time on Wednesday, October 7. Messi was named in Argentina’s squad for the friendly against Benin, a match that will serve as his farewell appearance after he announced his international retirement last month. The game will be held at River Plate’s Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, which holds 85,000 spectators. 

Messi is expected to make his 208th and final appearance for the national team. He is Argentina's all-time record scorer with 125 goals. His international career included winning the 2022 World Cup and the Copa América in 2021 and 2024. Argentine Football Association president Claudio Tapia has also invited all of Argentina's 2022 World Cup winners to join Messi for the occasion.

Before the farewell match, Kantipur Max will show Argentina vs Burkina Faso live at 5:45 AM Nepal time on Sunday, October 4. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides. So far, Benin is the only match in which Messi’s participation has been confirmed.

Both matches will be available on Kantipur Max television and its digital and streaming platforms, including YouTube and social media. Replays and highlights, in Nepali and English, will be available for a month after each match.
