Nepali weightlifter Sanju Chaudhary bags historic gold medal
Nepal’s Sanju Chaudhary set a new national record by clinching the country’s first gold medal in women’s weightlifting at the 13th South Asian Games on Thursday.
Chaudhary lifted a total of 171kg—74kg in snatch and 97kg in clean and jerk—for the gold medal in the women’s 59kg division in Pokhara.
Bhupen Shrestha wins gold in Taekwondo
Bhupen Shrestha won a gold medal for Nepal in Taekwondo in male under-87kg category. He defeated India's Akshay Hooda 29-27 in the final.
Juni Rai wins gold in Wushu
Juni Rai won a gold for Nepal in Wushu Sanshou. She defeated Sri Lanka's Madumali in the final of women's 54kg category.
Gaurika Singh wins gold in 200 metre freestyle
Likewise, Duana Lama won a silver medal for Nepal in women 200-metre breaststroke swimming. She finished second in 2:44:68.
Nepali cyclists sweep all three medals in men's cross country cycling
Nepali cyclist Buddhi Bahadur Tamang clinched the gold medal in men's cross country cycling event on Thursday. Rajeev Rai and Okesh Raj Bajracharya won the silver and bronze medal respectively.
Nepal wins gold and silver in women's cross country cycling
Nepal's Laxmi Magar and Usha Khanal won the gold and the silver medal respectively in women's cross country cycling to take Nepal's medal tally to 74. India's Pranita Prafull Soman won the bronze medal.
Nepal is now only one gold medal away from creating history. In the 8th SAG, Nepal had won 31 gold medals which is the highest number of golds won by Nepal is an edition of South Asian Games.
Mina Glan wins silver in wushu
Mina Glan won a silver medal in Women's Taijijian of Wushu Taolu. Sri Lanka's MLDTS Gunasekara won the gold medal while the bronze went to Dipti Das of Bangladesh.
Nima Gharti Magar defends her gold medal in Wushu
Bishow Budha Magar wins Silver in Wushu
Bishow Budha Magar won the silver in Men's Gunshu of Wushu Taolu. Suraj Singh of India clinched the gold medal while bronze went to MD Rasel Hossain of Bangladesh.
