Janakpur
The CPN-UML, a coalition partner in the Madhesh provincial government, has withdrawn its support, pushing the Nepali Congress-led government into a minority.
Four UML ministers submitted a letter withdrawing their party’s support to Provincial Chief Surendra Labh Karna on Friday.
Lakhhan Das, a UML minister, said the party pulled out because the Congress-led government failed to implement a 15-point agreement reached with the UML.
The Madhesh government, led by Congress’s Krishna Prasad Yadav, was formed on December 5, 2025, with the UML and the Nepali Communist Party as coalition partners.
The UML’s withdrawal leaves the provincial government in a minority.
