The 28-year-old was hit by six bullets in an attack in Gaur Municipality on Tuesday night. Police have yet to identify the assailants or establish a motive.
A 28-year-old man was seriously injured after an unidentified group opened fire on him near a water tank in Gadhawa Tole, ward 4 of Gaur Municipality, Rautahat, on Tuesday night.
The victim, Rakesh Yadav, a local resident, was initially taken to the Provincial Hospital in Gaur for treatment. He was later referred to Nepal Mediciti Vayodha Hospital in Birgunj for further treatment. His condition is critical, according to the District Police Office, Rautahat.
The shooting took place at around 9:15pm. Yadav sustained six bullet injuries, including three to his back, one to his right upper arm and two to his legs, police said.
Police recovered three empty pistol cartridges from the scene.
The identity of the attackers and the motive behind the shooting remain unknown. Police said they were investigating the incident.
