The family of Prisha Sah, a Nepali student found dead in her hostel room at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University in Odisha, India, has left for India.
Sah, a resident of ward 8 of Kabilasi Municipality in Sarlahi district, was discovered dead on Thursday evening in her room on the fourth floor of KIIT’s ‘Queens Castle-4’ hostel. Indian police have secured the site, and an investigation is underway.
“She had spoken to her parents just a day earlier. She was planning to return home on May 18 after her exams,” her uncle Kamaldev Prasad Sah said. Prisha had moved to India last year to begin her studies. Her parents, Shyam Prasad and Pinky Sah, along with her brother Gaurav, left for Odisha on Friday to facilitate the return of her body.
The family home in Sarlahi remained locked on Friday.
This is the second death of a Nepali student at KIIT in less than three months. On February 16, Prakriti Lamsal of Rupandehi was also found dead in the same hostel building. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal has initiated diplomatic efforts to ensure a full investigation.
