The Madhesh provincial government has announced a contribution of Rs5.1 million to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund.
According to Madhesh Provincial Assembly member Upendra Mahato, who is also the provincial assembly leader of the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, the decision was made during a meeting of the ruling coalition called by Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh on Friday.
Earlier on Thursday, the Gandaki provincial government pledged Rs5 million to assist victims of the recent floods and landslides that affected various parts of the country.
The meeting also formed a committee to assess the necessity and effectiveness of recent appointments made by the government.
The four-member committee, led by Mahato, includes Pramod Jaiswal from the UML, Shesh Narayan Yadav from the Congress, and Sanjay Yadav from the Janamat Party.
The committee was formed following allegations that the chief minister made appointments unilaterally without consulting coalition partners.
