Police have arrested a 35-year-old resident of ward 16 of Jeetpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City in Bara district, from Birgunj while he was transporting 8,810 litres of homemade liquor on Sunday.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Kuar Bikram Thapa of the Parsa District Police Office, the man was transporting the liquor by a pickup truck from Hetauda.
The man and the truck have been handed over to the Inland Revenue Office in Birgunj for investigation and action.
For the past couple of days, the transportation and sale of homemade liquor has been banned in Birgunj due to the Holi festival, said Thapa.
