Police have recovered a dead body of a newborn with the placenta still attached, from the Maraha River in ward 3 of Sonama Rural Municipality on Friday.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dilip Kumar Giri of the District Police, the police team from the Gaushala Area Police Office found the body in the river.

The body of the infant has been sent to Jaleshwar Provincial Hospital for a post-mortem. Further investigation regarding the incident is going on, said Giri.
