A Rautahat youth inserted an empty bottle inside his friend’s body after the friend tricked him into drinking urine, police said.
The shocking incident came to light after the victim, Nurshad Mansuri, visited a hospital after complaining of persistent abdominal pain. An X-Ray of the victim’s stomach revealed the bottle, stuck inside his body.
The accused is on the run.
Twenty-six-year-old Mansuri complained of stomach pain early on Sunday. He was admitted to the Chandrapur Hospital on Monday, suspecting a possible appendix problem after medications from the local clinic did little to relieve the pain.
The doctors and medical staff were surprised after reports revealed an entire bottle inside the patient’s body.
The Chandranigahapur Area Police took one person into custody, suspecting their alleged involvement in the crime.
Mansuri was referred to a hospital in Bharatpur after the medical personnel at the Chandrapur Hospital suspected that the bottle may have ruptured the patient's intestines.
Dr Abhishek Adhikari, who attended Mansuri at the Chandrapur Hospital, referred the patient to Bharatpur immediately after the X-Ray revealed the foreign object, stuck in the rectum.
“We were shocked to find an entire glass bottle in his body,” Adhikari said. “We referred him to a hospital with better facilities, fearing serious problems that could arise if proper care was delayed.”
Mansuri has been admitted to Bharatpur-based Old Medical Hospital.
The bottle was removed from the patient after surgery by Dr Narayan Belbase at the Bharatpur-based hospital.
“The bottle was removed after a two-hour long surgery,” Belbase said. “We can only comment on his health after 48 hours of supervision.”
Although Mansuri is out of danger, he is not in a condition to speak.
Mansuri’s father has demanded the perpetrators be booked and handed a maximum penalty.
According to the preliminary investigation, police have revealed that Mansuri’s own friend had inserted the bottle into his body through his anus.
Four days ago, Mansuri and his friend Mohammad Samir were drinking at the latter’s auto garage. Mansuri had allegedly made Samir drink urine from a bottle.
After learning of Mansuri’s misdeed, Samir invited Mansuri to his garage on Saturday. Mansuri became unconscious after he was made to consume some unverified intoxicant. The accused then inserted an empty half-litre alcohol bottle through the anus, police said.
