Nepathya moves Lisbon audience with joy and tears
Folk-rock band charms Nepali diaspora as European tour continues
Post Report
Nepali folk-rock band Nepathya performed to a packed hall in Lisbon on Sunday, drawing audiences from across Europe to experience the band’s signature melodies and heartfelt lyrics.
The concert, part of Nepathya’s ongoing European tour, saw fans from Belgium and other countries gather for an evening filled with music, nostalgia and emotion. Many in the audience were moved to tears, recalling memories of home while singing along with the band.
Lead singer Amrit Gurung opened the show with Koshiko Paani Yo Jindagani, followed by hits including Bhedako Oon and Chekyo Chekyo, with the crowd joining in choruses and chants of “Nepathya, Nepathya!” The atmosphere remained electric throughout, as songs spanning the band’s 33-year career—from Aanganai Bhari to the recently released Karnali Ka Chhaila—kept the audience engaged.
Gurung also took time to encourage fans to support Nepali children’s education and highlighted the importance of preserving language and culture abroad.

Among the audience were long-time fans like Manish Rayamajhi, who walked Lisbon streets inspired by Nepathya’s songs, and Belgian restaurateur Tank Sapkota, who brought 75 colleagues to ensure everyone could enjoy the performance. Fans expressed that the concert exceeded their expectations, with music, energy and shared memories creating a unique connection between stage and audience.
Nepathya was supported by Dhruva Lama on drums, Subin Shakya on bass, Niraj Gurung on guitar, Shanti Rayamajhi on madal, and Dinesh Raj Regmi on keyboards.
The tour, which began in London’s Wembley Arena a month ago, will continue to serve Nepathya’s music across Europe.
