A total of 37 Nepali nationals, including 35 men and 2 women, are set to be deported from the United States on Wednesday, according to the Department of Immigration.
The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arranged a chartered Omni Air flight to repatriate the group, confirmed Ram Chandra Tiwari, Director General of the department, on Tuesday.
Since the beginning of President Donald Trump’s second term in January 2025, the US has deported more than 200 Nepalis, from 28 districts, on similar flights.
According to Nepal Police, most of the deportees had paid organised networks to smuggle them into the US through illegal routes.
The Trump administration has intensified its crackdown on undocumented immigrants, placing more than 1.4 million people, including Nepalis, on its deportation list. Mexicans, Salvadorans, Indians, Guatemalans, Hondurans and Venezuelans make up the largest groups facing removal.
ICE has recently stepped up operations against individuals who had received final deportation orders before 24 November 2024 but had not yet been detained, sending many back to their countries of origin.
