Twelve years after making history at London’s Wembley Arena, Nepali folk-rock band Nepathya is set to return to the same stage for another landmark performance on August 9.
The concert, organised by BSK Entertainment and Parcha Production, will see Nepathya bring their signature sound to one of the UK’s most renowned venues, where they first performed to a crowd of over 7,000 in August 2013. That show was widely hailed as a defining moment for Nepali music on the international stage.
“Wembley opened doors for us globally,” said Kiran Krishna Shrestha of Nepalaya, the band’s long-time management team. “After that performance, we found it easier to access renowned venues in major cities around the world.”
Lead vocalist Amrit Gurung reflected emotionally on the experience, describing how the cheers, applause, and phone lights from the vast audience in 2013 left him overwhelmed. “That moment felt like one of the biggest challenges of my life,” he recalled, “but once I found my courage, I gave myself completely to the audience.”
This year’s UK tour will feature a 14-member team from Nepal, including six musicians and eight technical staff. Gurung will be joined on stage by Dhruva Lama (drums), Subin Shakya (bass guitar), Niraj Gurung (guitar), Shanti Rayamajhi (madal), and Dinesh Raj Regmi (keyboards).
Shrestha stated that the band has given high priority to the concert, especially considering the growing Nepali diaspora in the UK, estimated to be over 100,000. The event follows Nepathya’s recent tours in Australia and the United States, adding to their international momentum.
Local organiser Dipendra Lama said that over 7,000 tickets have already been sold, with increasing inquiries still pouring in. “We are doing our best to accommodate fans coming from outside London,” he added.
