Students showcase AI, robotics and cybersecurity projects at Innovista 2.0
More than 55 student-built projects are on display at the two-day technology and business carnival aimed at linking innovation with industry, investors and startup opportunities.More than 55 student-built technology projects are being showcased at Presidential Innovista 2.0, a two-day technology and business carnival organised by Presidential Graduate School, which is affiliated with Westcliff University in the US.
According to the organisers, around 170 students have developed projects spanning artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, software and digital innovation. The event aims to highlight students’ technical skills and creativity while connecting them with industry leaders, investors and startup opportunities.
This year’s exhibition is organised around five major technology domains: Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence, IoT and Robotics, Cyber Village, Software and Technoversity.
Among the projects on display are an FPV drone designed for flower showering, a robotic football player, a dancing robot synchronised with music and an AI-powered emotion detection system that recommends music based on users’ facial expressions. Students are also presenting cybersecurity solutions aimed at addressing online fraud, data breaches and banking security concerns.
Other projects include a smart irrigation system, a smart home solution equipped with gas leak detection and automatic gas shut-off features, tourism promotion software and a remote-controlled vehicle fitted with a 360-degree camera. Organisers said the projects demonstrate practical applications of technology in agriculture, tourism, business and public safety.
Laxman KC, founder and executive chairperson of Presidential Graduate School, said the projects were developed not only for exhibition but also with commercial potential in mind.
“Our goal is to demonstrate that world-class innovation is possible in Nepal,” KC said. “The next step is to connect these projects with industries, investors and the market.”
He said the institution’s Business Incubation Center would support promising projects in developing into commercially viable products and startups.
The event also features a Technoversity Pavilion, where more than 34 recent Grade 12 graduates are exhibiting innovation projects developed within a week under the mentorship of university students. Winners in this category will receive prizes of up to Rs100,000.
Kalpana Gurung, director and principal of the school, said Innovista serves as a platform to showcase students’ creativity while creating pathways for higher education, employment and entrepreneurship. The event is open to the public free of charge.
